How we collect, use, and protect your information.

At Teaching It Right, LLC, ("we," "our," "us," or "Teaching It Right") we are committed to being transparent with our data and privacy processes and to safeguarding the online and information privacy of the users of our mobile application, educational content, games, related services, and websites (together, "Services"). This privacy policy describes the information collected by us through Services and how the information is used and/or disclosed. We believe that providing this information empowers you to feel secure about the use of Services. We adhere to the regulations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA").

Our Services provide information to parents, educators and other interested community members about our company and products, assistive and play-based learning applications, to empower children with special needs to be independent learners. Our website is not for the use of children under the age of 18, which may contain links to social media sites, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest.

What information we collect and how we process it

In the course of providing services to you, we collect your information. Some of the information you provide to us directly. Some other information is automatically collected when you use our services. We communicate our data collection at the point collection and ask for your permission. We only collect your information in furtherance of our legitimate interest to provide services to you. We do not sell or rent your information.

Automatically collected information

Protecting your privacy and your information is a top priority at Teaching It Right. We have taken careful measures to prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of your information. When you first download and open our apps, we automatically collect data on how you use the app in order to give you a better user experience. The data collected includes information such as device ID, IP address, country location, app crashes, usage time, games played, problems missed, and duration and frequency of play. With this data, we work to improve our app design and performance and provide customer service specific to your use of the apps. You must be at least 18 years old to consent to our data collection. If you do not consent to our collecting this data, we will not be able to provide some services and/or customer support specific to your use of the apps.

We automatically track certain information based upon your behavior on the website. We use this information to do internal research on our users' demographics, interests, and behavior to better understand, protect and serve you and our community. This information may include the URL that you just came from (whether this URL is on the Site or not), which URL you next go to (whether this URL is on the Site or not), your computer browser information, and your IP address.

From our Teaching It Right app: We Are Friends

Within our app, you create "Profile Usernames" for each student, which allows you to set up multiple profiles on a single device. The app will track each student's play data separately to provide personalized activities and levels for each profile. When you sign up for a parent account, we collect the parent's email address that you provide us. Upon agreement of our privacy policy, you agree to this data collection. With such an account, we provide you additional services such as synching data across devices. The profile usernames set up on your device will be collected in order to personalize your reports. If you do not want us to have your student's names, please use nicknames or pseudonyms. We also use the email address to communicate with parents about our services and to respond to you when you contact us.

Additionally, we collect the age, gender, learning preference (see it, hear it, read it), photos, audio and visual recordings of the student and the influencer (parent). This information is used to customize the program through the creation of personalized videos and photos for student engagement and learning. Teaching It Right does not collect more information than is needed to effectively use the app. Once we receive your information, it is stored behind a firewall. All Teaching It Right employees are aware of our privacy and security policies. Your information is only accessible to those employees who need it in order to perform their jobs. If you purchase our services, we may share your information with a third party solely for the purpose of processing your order. In any instance where you have discovered or suspect fraud, you need to contact your credit card companies immediately. Please be assured that all of your information is communicated via a secure connection using industry standard internet security protocols.

All information collected from our apps and services are for the use of Teaching It Right's legitimate purposes to provide and improve services and for educational purpose of the students and parents only. We also use the email address to communicate about our services and to respond to you when you contact us. We do not collect more information than is necessary for our services. Nor do we use this information for any other commercial purpose. We do not sell or rent information, nor do we use the information for creating profiles on students for advertising.

Furthermore, we do not share, disclose or sell the information we collect with any third parties except where:

  • we use third-party service providers to help us operate our services. Such third-party providers use the information only for the services we contract them to do; and
  • we share de-identified data with third parties to research how to improve the educational effectiveness of our products.

As permitted by COPPA, parents may ask to review information we have collected by contacting us at customerservice@teachingitright.com. You may also ask us to delete your data by emailing us.

Teaching It Right's website and its information is intended for use by United States residents only. Countries outside the United States may have regulatory requirements that differ from the United States and, therefore, this information may be inappropriate for use outside the United States.

U.S. residents 18 and older may receive announcements about upcoming apps and other news, and may join our free mailing list by submitting their names and emails through our website form. This information is used only for our internal purpose of communicating with you regarding upcoming apps and other news about us. No other personal information is collected. You can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time.

You may also use our contact form on the website to email us with questions, comments and feedback. The contact form collects your name and email address and any other information you provide us in the feedback section. We use this information to communicate with you about your contact request.

Our email mailings may be provided to you through third-party service providers. We share your email address with them for the sole purpose of fulfilling email communications. The third-party service providers are also bound by contract, terms of use and privacy policies to refrain from using this information for purposes other than providing services to us.

Cookie policy

A "cookie" is a small file placed on your hard drive that tracks non-personally identifiable information such as the number that represents you as a user in our system. We use cookies to track your login to the website. We also use cookies to allow you to enter your password less frequently during a session. You are always free to decline our cookies if your browser permits, although in that case you may not be able to use certain features on the website and you may be required to reenter your password more frequently during a session.

Service providers

We engage third-party service providers to perform functions and provide services to us in the United States. These include third-party services to help us operate our services, such as Amazon Web Services that stores our data and Google Analytics to help us understand the use of our services. We share your data with such services providers subject to requirements that are consistent with this Privacy Policy. These third-party providers may use your data only for the purpose of providing services we need. When you purchase a subscription, we collect information about the purchase, including currency and amount spent, but we do not collect payment or billing information. Third-party app stores or a payment service provider will handle and process payment data when you subscribe to our services according to their terms of service. We do not directly obtain or collect your payment information.

Third-party advertising

Teaching It Right's apps are designed to help children experience success in their learning. They do not have third-party advertisements so that young learners stay focused on their learning experience. Any in-app upgrades or purchases, links to our apps in the App Store, links to our websites or social media pages can only be accessed through a parental login. These apps do not enable children to make their personal information publicly available.

Teaching It Right's apps are created for parents and educators to use to support children's social learning.

Marketing

We do not collect any personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. However, you may be required to provide certain personal information to us when you elect to use certain products or services available through Teaching It Right. These may include: (a) registering for an account; (b) entering a sweepstakes or contest sponsored by us or one of our partners; (c) signing up for special offers from selected third parties; (d) sending us an email message; (e) signing up for our mailing list; and (f) submitting credit card or other payment information when ordering or purchasing products and/or services.

How we disclose or share information with others

We do not rent, sell or share any personally identifiable information collected on the website or through the mobile applications with other people unless we have your consent or under the following circumstances:

  1. with trusted third-party service providers who help us process the information for which it is collected and use the information only for that work. We review the data privacy policies of these third-party providers to ensure they maintain the level of privacy and security controls that reasonably protect the data they process;
  2. when we have good faith belief it is required to comply with laws or to respond to lawful requests and legal process;
  3. when we have good faith belief it is necessary to protect the rights and property of Teaching It Right, our agents, customers, users, and others including to enforce our agreements, policies and terms of use;
  4. in an emergency to protect the personal safety of Teaching It Right, its customers, or any person;
  5. in connection with or during negotiation of any merger, sales of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company;
  6. when we share de-identified data with third parties to research ways to improve our services.

Security of information and breach notification

We take care to safeguard the security of collected information. We use reasonable efforts to put in place appropriate physical, technical and procedural safeguards that helps prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and properly use the information we collect. We encrypt data in transit and encrypt passwords at storage. We stay abreast of privacy laws and best practices and provide training to our team on the importance of privacy considerations from product design to service rollout. We limit access of the data to only those who need it to perform their roles and duties. Even though we endeavor to provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.

If we become aware of unauthorized access of personally identifiable information, we will use reasonable efforts to contact our users through the email address they have given us and/or notify through the app.

Managing your information

Collection of information — deletion and retention

You may ask to review the information we have collected or delete any personally identifiable information by emailing us at customerservice@teachingitright.com. Doing so may require us to delete your account.

Account information or any personally identifiable student data collected will be deleted within 90 days of the contract expiration period.

Your consent

By using our services, you are consenting to our processing of the information you provided to us and information automatically collected as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Changes to this privacy policy

Teaching It Right reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your account, by placing a prominent notice on our site, and/or by updating any privacy information on this page. Your continued use of the website, products, services, and solutions, available through Teaching It Right after such modifications will constitute your: (a) acknowledgement of the modified Privacy Policy; and (b) agreement to abide and be bound by that Policy.

What happens when you communicate with us

When you send an email to us or visit the website, you are communicating with us electronically. When you send an email to us, you consent to receive communications from us electronically in response. We may communicate with you by email, or by updating or posting notices on our website or app. You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing. All communications with us become the property of Teaching It Right.
